Nigerian man jailed in UK for se3ually ass@ulting woman near London train station

A 45-year-old Nigerian man, Obinwa Obichukwu, has been sentenced to two years in prison in the United Kingdom after being convicted of sexually assaulting a woman twice near London's Euston train station.

The British Transport Police (BTP) said the assaults occurred on the evening of August 20, 2023, after Obichukwu approached the woman as she walked toward the station.

According to investigators, he started a conversation about the music she was listening to, put his arm around her shoulder, invited her to his home, grabbed her hand, repeatedly told her he loved her, and blocked her from entering the station before sexually assaulting her.

Police said he then followed the woman down an escalator and assaulted her again near the ticket barriers. The victim eventually managed to push him away, escape, and report the incident to authorities.

During the trial, Obichukwu claimed the encounter was consensual, but the jury rejected his defence and found him guilty on two counts of sexual assault.

Detective Constable Daniel Burke described the convict as a "sexual predator" who deliberately targeted a lone woman, adding that the conviction demonstrates the force's commitment to tackling violence against women and girls.

Following the victim's report, officers arrested Obichukwu at his home. He has now been sentenced to two years' imprisonment.
